In contemporary age, the ultimate inquiry about art, like a riddle, encourages artists to decode and demonstrate with their intelligence and potential.
As representative and esteemed contemporary artists, Chen Jian and Tian Li firmly believe that the preliminary motivation of art creation should never be apart from the desire for emotional expression, from the projection of human nature into the unsatisfying reality, and from the energy release of culture in art history accumulated by the masters generation by generation.
Comprising a thematic series of emotive, atmospheric landscape paintings executed during the artists’ visit to the East Coast of Australia last year, this Chinese watercolour painting exhibition brings a contemporary technique and poetic vision to the artists’ practice using traditional materials, namely, the ancient Chinese ink colours and Medieval tempera, and shows Chen and Tian’s passion in the exploration of the ultimate thinking of the art proposition.
