About the exhibition:
Created by Zhang Leping in 1935, Sanmao (Three hairs) is one of the world’s longest running cartoon characters and remains a landmark as one of the most famous and beloved fictional characters in China today. In 2015, on the 42nd Angoulême International Comics Festival held in France, The Winter of Three Hairs won the Cultural Heritage Award, which is the first time a Chinese comic artist won this award. This exhibition features selected works in commemoration of the 70th anniversary of the publication of the book The Winter of Three Hairs in 1947, and seeks to showcase the excellence of Chinese comics and the Chinese modern history and social changes reflected in the works.
