With a long history and a splendid ancient civilisation, China has a rich and diverse intangible cultural heritage, crystallising the nation’s wisdom. Intangible cultural heritage is of both social and economic importance as it gives us a sense of identity, linking our past, nourishing our present, and leading our future. It forges social cohesion and integrates individuals into a community and society.

In this part, Dr. Yuan Li, a researcher and doctoral supervisor of the China National Academy of Arts will introduce what intangible cultural heritage is, why we need to safeguard it, how, and the challenges we face.

Chinese Traditional Craftsmanship

The second part is “Ingenuity” – China Intangible Cultural Heritage Video Series, which showcases traditional techniques such as celadon firing青瓷烧制, sword forging宝剑锻制 , and Ganoderma lucidum cultivation 灵芝栽培

China is known for its traditional artistry and craftsmanship. Most of them come from the folk, protected and passed down by the craftsmen with their conscientious attitude and sense of responsibility. In these videos, you’ll find out how these ancient skills are inherited by generations and understand the spirit of these craftsmen.
