About Chengdu

In collaboration with the Chengdu Municipal Bureau of Culture, Broadcast-TV and Tourism, China Cultural Centre in Sydney is excited to present on its website and social media this virtual exhibition, Dancing to the Rhythms of the Land of Abundance-Chengdu, showcasing the charm of Sichuan province and introducing its incredible culture. You can enjoy an exciting array of stage shows featuring gorgeous dance, lively music, brilliant lights and classical costumes.

Directed by the renowned national top-level Chinese dancer-choreographer Liu Lingli and produced by Chengdu School of Culture & Art, the show consists of two parts with ten performances, Golden Sun Bird, Terracotta Figurine of Dancing Comedian, Shu Palace dance and music, Chengdu teahouses, Moon over the Huanhua Brook, Blooming of Sichuan Opera, National treasure — pandas, Shadowing play exhibiting the world, Splendid Brocade City-Chengdu, and Rejuvenation. Part one introduces Chengdu’s profound history, rich culture and ancient customs, while Part two highlights the spirit of modern Chengdu.


From the perspective of two foreign visitors, the show tells a fascinating story about Chengdu from ancient to modern by dancing, featuring the elegant golden sun bird, hilarious terracotta storyteller, the beautiful 24 gigakus and the Chengdu old tea house with local vibes. During the show, you’ll experience classic Chengdu elements such as tea art, Sichuan Qingyin(清音), Sichuan Opera, and Sichuan Folk Drama Jinqianban(金钱板).This production is re-imagined with modern choreography, technology, scenic design and staging, delivering a series of incredible performances and showcasing the profound culture of Chengdu.
