The Art of Traditional Chinese Architecture
China Cultural Centre in Sydney once again presents “Online Chinese Culture Talks” programme with “the Art of Traditional Chinese Architecture” to offer an access to the Australian friends to a deeper understanding of the Chinese culture. China has a long history and splendid culture, among which the unique architecture art is not only a national treasure but also an outstanding achievement in the history of world civilization. The art of Chinese traditional architecture has recorded the social evolution of the ancient China and formed its own system in the history of world architecture. It is the crystallisation of the Chinese people’s wisdom with a distinctive architectural structure, artistic characteristics, and cultural significance. The lecture interprets the secret of the Chinese traditional architecture from various angles with a scientific and detailed introduction of the composition and Characteristics and different types and artistic styles of the Chinese traditional architecture, sharing with the audience the ancient Chinese architectural art and its long history.
The lecturer, Liu Tuo, a researcher and Honorary Director of Institute of Architecture Art of the Chinese National Academy of Arts, has long been engaging in researches of architectural history and theory and the preservation of the cultural heritage. He won the “Cultural Science and Technology Innovation Award” of the Ministry of Culture of China and the “Outstanding Contribution Award for the Implementation of the 11th Five-Year National Science and Technology Plan”. He participated in the writing of several national key projects including “The History of Chinese Fine Arts”, “The General History of Chinese Art”, “The History of Chinese Architecture,” and “A Series of Chinese Arts”. He also authored many books including “The art of Chinese Architecture”, “The History of Chinese Architectural Art”, “The Architectural Art”, “The Garden Art,” “Macau Art Series,” and “Architectural Techniques of Hui-Style Architecture.”
