Quanzhou has rich and unique intangible cultural heritages, giving rise to countless artistic treasures that are deeply rooted in local customs and characteristics. It is the only city in China that has three types of intangible cultural heritages recognized by UNESCO. The exhibition will present more than 10 intangible cultural heritages, including Li Yaobao’s Paper Carving, Quanzhou Wooden Puppets, Quanzhou Lanterns, Quanzhou Tin Carving, Quanzhou JinCang Embroidery, Quanzhou Lacquer Thread Carving, Quanzhou Nanyin (video), Quanzhou Marionette, Jinjiang hand Puppets, Huian Shadow Carving, Dehua Ceramic Production Techniques (video), Anxi Bamboo and Rattan Weaving, Anxi Tieguanyin Tea, Xunpu Women’s Customs, Fujian Ship Models, and Fujian Ship Water-tight Compartment Manufacturing Technique (video display), Yongchun Incense, and Yongchun Paper Wavering Painting. At the same time, the exhibition also includes video display of Quanzhou Nanyin, Quanzhou Beiguan, Gaojia Opera, Marionette Show, and Minnan Storytelling, showcasing the charm of Quanzhou from various perspective. The exhibition aims to lead more audiences to appreciate the charm of Quanzhou’s maritime silk intangible cultural heritage, passing down the thousand-year memory of the Maritime Silk Road and enhancing the Australian people’s understanding and awareness of the Chinese traditional arts.
