The Mid-Autumn Festival is a Chinese traditional Festival, which carries the rich sentiments of the Chinese people for family reunion, harmony and a better life. China Cultural Centre and China National Tourist Office in Sydney will launch the 2023 Mid-Autumn Festival: A Moon moment to Remember online feature programme on the official websites and social medias from September 26, presenting theme song May They Live Long, Mid-Autumn online concert, Mid-Autumn online singing and dancing performance, as well as My Mid-Autumn Festival in China Vlog series to demonstrate the cultural customs, humanistic spirit and contemporary values of the Mid-Autumn Festival and invite the Australian people and overseas Chinese in Australia to celebrate the festival together.

May They Live Long (Prelude to Water Melody)
Shui Diao Ge Tou: Ming Yue Ji Shi You (Prelude to Water Melody: May They Live Long) was a poem composed by Su Shi, a great litterateur of Song Dynasty during the Mid-Autumn Festival in 1076. The poem inspired by the moon incorporates joys and sorrows and separations and reunions into a philosophical exploration for understanding the universe and existence with the imagination and contemplation of the full moon, expressing his longing for and warm wishes to his family members and his optimistic sentiments despite facing adversity.
The poem was developed into a popular song by modern generations and became a iconic song of the Mid-Autumn Festival. It has gradually gained popularity among overseas audience, conveying people’s aspirations for family reunion and harmony and a better life.
