Deepen the exploration into ancient China to trace the history of Xi’an; look forward to the future to create novel and immersive experience. For thousands of years, 13 dynasties found their presence in ups and downs of history on the land of Xi’an and left deep imprints on the revolution of the culture of the city. Since ancient times, intelligent Xi’an people have created and innovated culture, integrated it with other cultures, and injected remarkable achievements into the development of the ancestry of Chinese civilization.

 

The ‘Ancient China Brought to Life — Xi’an Modern Cultural Creativity Online Exhibition’ is co-hosted by China Cultural Centre in Sydney and Xi’an Municipal Administration of Culture and Tourism. It will present the charm of Xi’an in ancient and modern times with splendid features through live-action performances and the presentation of folk villages, immersive spaces, ancient-style gardens, historical streets, and theme blocks. The flickering flames of history in the urban area, the love story that has been extolled for thousands of years, the silent and natural folk villages, the graceful classic gardens, and theme blocks with lingering songs of the Qin style are waiting for you in the images deeply integrating the history and modernity. Just several clicks, a vivid scroll presented via digital means with immersive cultural ideas will unfold in front of you. The fashionable and colorful city of Xi’an will bring you diverse and variegated magical experience and numerous mysteries of the Chinese civilization are waiting for you to explore. It’s believed that the Exhibition will let Australians learn more about the splendid Xi’an and the broad China, which will further deepen the friendship of Chinese and Australian peoples.

Twenty-four Hours in Chang’an Cultural Block

It is an immersive Tang-style theme block based on the civil life of Tang people. Revolving around immersive experience and with the theme of the online series The Longest Day in Chang’an, the Block integrates space tour, Tang-style market experience, thematically immersive interactions, Tang music and dance performances, and other cultural and social activities. It is a perfect place for people to try the Tang-style civil life.

The Song of Everlasting Sorrow in Huaqing Palace

The performance is created based on the blueprint of the narrative long poem the Song of Everlasting Sorrow written by Bai Juyi, a poet in the Tang Dynasty. With the Lishan Mountain as the background, and the Jiulong Lake in Huaqing Palace as the stage, it presents the historical story live-action performance supported by modern science and technology. As a love story between Li Longji, Emperor Xuanzong of Tang, and his concubine Yang Yuhuan that happened more than 1,300 years ago, it consists of 10 acts including “A Daughter Grown Up in the Yang Family,” “The Girl Selected as One of the Emperor’s Concubines,” and “The Emperor and the Concubine Whispering to Each Other at Midnight.” It brings extremely immersive visual experience of Chinese romance through poem narration, rivers and mountains, technical elements, and others.

Grand Tang Mall

Built on the cultural deposits of the prosperous Tang Dynasty, the scenic spot is divided into four parts: the North Square of the Dayan Pagoda, the South Square of the Dayan Pagoda, Zhenguan Square and Kaiyuan Square. It is also home to four cultural venues: Pacific Cinema, Xi’an Concert Hall, Xi’an Gallery, and Shaanxi Opera House and it covers various business models such as delicacies, cultural creative products, immersive performances, and general business. Moreover, the Grand Tang Mall boasts the largest theme sculptures of the prosperous Tang Dynasty. These display items, embellished with modern lighting systems and waterscape arrangements, demonstrate the remarkable achievements of the Tang Dynasty in literature, art, science and technology, medicine, astronomy and other fields in a three-dimensional way. It has become a new name card of Xi’an cultural tourism and opening up.

Xi’an Guanzhong Folk Art Museum is China’s first social science folk specialty museum centering on preservation, research, demonstration and inheritance of folk cultural heritage. It’s the largest non-state-owned museum with the most kinds of collections in China’s northwestern area. Different areas including the Folk Culture Display Zone, Ancient Town Touring Zone, Intangible Cultural Heritage Display Zone, and Folk Culture Research Center reflect the folkways, folk customs, folk arts, and lifestyles of people of different nationalities in Guanzhong Area from different sides.
