Directed by Zhang Yimou, starring Shen Teng, Jackson Yee, Zhang Yi, Lei Jiayin, Yue Yunpeng, and Wang Jiayi, the film tells the story that during the Shaoxing era of Southern Song Dynasty, four years after General Yue Fei’s death. Prime Minister Qin Hui leads an army to negotiate with the Jin Kingdom. On the eve of the talks, a Jin emissary dies in the prime minister’s quarters, and the secret letter he carried has disappeared. Zhang Da (act by Shen Teng), a soldier, and Sun Jun (act by Jackson Yee), the deputy commander of the army battalion, are swept up in the conspiracy, and Qin Hui (act by Lei Jiayin), orders them to find the murderer within two hours. As the crisis unfolds, He Li (act by Zhang Yi), the Prime Minister’s chief steward, Wu Yichun (act by Yue Yunpeng), the deputy steward, and Yao Qin (act by Wang Jiayi), a dancer, are involved in the case, revealing a larger hidden plot.
