Sketching in the Tibetan Region was enlarged from a watercolor draft, which I thought was very much like the impression of early summer in the Tibetan region. I put the figure in Dong Xiwen’s Tibetan Girl Drawing Water on the picture and added a sketching figure to complete this painting. When I was a child, I heard my father talk about Wu Song fighting the tiger, and I imagined that Jing Yang Gang corresponded to a hillside behind my house. Looking back on that time, I was imagining the unknown with the known. So I changed the painting Sketching in the Tibet Region to look like the evening and added the tiger to make the painting Jing Yang Gang. In the process of painting, some dots were naturally left, somewhat like the seven stars of the Big Dipper. I extracted the lines from the painting Jing Yang Gang and enhanced the traces to highlight the relationship between them as the shape of the Big Dipper, and completed Make a Wish. “Drawing water” is a topic frequently talked about among Chinese artists.
Ancient Chinese people associated the shape of the Big Dipper with water dipper, which belongs to Water in the north.
《在藏区写生》是根据一张水彩稿放大完成的，我觉得它很像藏区初夏的印象。我把董希文的《汲水的藏女》里面那个人物形象放到画面上，再加上一个写生的人物，完成了这张画。小时候，我听父亲讲武松打⻁，想象中的景阳冈对应的是我家后面的一个山坡。回想当时的情景，我是用已知的 事物在想象未知的事物。于是，我把《在藏区写生》改成傍晚时的样子，再加上老⻁，成为 《景阳冈》这幅画。在画这幅画的过程中，画面上很自然地留下些点状的痕迹，有点像北斗七星。我提取 出《景阳冈》画中的线条，并强化构成北斗七星的那几个绘画痕迹，突出它们之间像北斗星的形状 关系，完成了《许愿》
“汲水”是中国艺术家反复谈论的创作主题。古人把北斗七星的形状联想成舀食酒水的斗勺，七星位居北方属水宫。
