Discover the splendid traditional handicrafts and intangible cultural heritage from Sichuan to celebrate the Chinese New Year of Tiger in 2022」

Preface

The exhibition starts with the brocade and embroidery of Chegndu, using silver for painting, bamboo and wood for ware, showing the glory of lacquer and pottery, and presenting the legends of New Year wood block paintings and shadow puppets, bringing together nearly 100 pieces of Sichuan handicraft exhibits.

Chengdu, located in southwest China, is the capital city of Sichuan province. It is the “City of Silk Road”, which bridges Europe and Asia with the colourful Shu brocade, and the “City of Trade”, which invented the world’s first paper money.

Chengdu is rich in intangible cultural heritage, with 229 representative items, including the Shu(another name of Sichuan)brocade weaving technique, which was inscribed on UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2009.

This is a park city under the snow mountains, sending you a warm invitation!

Five Golden Flowers

Chengdu silver filigree, Chengdu lacquer art, Shu embroidery, bamboo weaving and bamboo over porcelain, and Shu brocade are regarded as the “Five Golden Flowers” of Chengdu traditional handicrafts.

Welcome to explore these exquisite traditional handicrafts in person or online and experience the fascinating details of each unique work.
