Located in the enclosed Sichuan Basin in Southwest China, the ancient state of Shuwas once a unique and fascinating civilization, which is an outstanding representative of the Bronze Age Civilization of China and the world. This talk explores the development and disappearance of the ancient Shu Civilization, with a focus on Sanxingdui Culture as the most iconic archaeological site of the ancient Shu Kingdom.
Speaker: Professor GAO Dalun, Director of Sichuan Provincial Institute of Archaeology and Cultural Heritage
Professor Gao Dalun has devoted himself to archaeology for over 30 years, with an expertise in ancient Shu civilization. He has published extensively including over 100 academic papers and over 10 monographs. He has worked in Sichuan University, Sichuan Museum, Sichuan Provincial Bureau for Cultural Relics Administration.
