Regarded as the earliest, most influential and successful research organization of inscription and Chinese painting & calligraphy, and the main representative of the Art of Chinese Seal Engraving, Xiling Seal Engraver’s Society is celebrating its 100th year by showcasing some of the most unique and outstanding traditional Chinese art represented by Chinese seal to audience around the world.
On November 2nd 2017, the Exhibition landed in Sydney, being the only Australian stop on the world tour. The opening event has brought hordes of traditional Chinese art lovers to the China Cultural Centre in Sydney to witness the unique charm and cultural essence of Chinese seals.
Former Minister for the Arts Ms. Virginia Judge spoke highly of the exhibition as a pathway for overseas seal carving professionals and amateurs to learn and appreciate the highly acclaimed Art of Chinese Seal Engraving. She recalled that the Centre has been dedicated to promote awareness of and appreciation for Chinese culture and art since its establishment, the many past exhibitions has broadened global perspectives and she would continue to support cultural interactions between Australia and China.
Vice Director of Xiling Seal Engraver’s Society Mr. Wang Hongwei expressed his gratitude to all the participants in the process of preparing the opening event. “From 2008, the Society has actively carried out Exhibits for the Centenary of Xiling Seal Engraver’s Society, which has been held in the US, France, Italy , Spain, Turkey and Sri Lanka. Today, for the first time, this exhibition is presented in Australia. We sincerely hope this exhibition will provide an opportunity to establish a cultural bridge between Australia and China. ”he said.
The “Centenary of Xiling Seal Engraver’s Society” Exhibition will be on display in the Centre from 2nd November to 16th November 2017.
