On 3rd June 2019, the opening ceremony of Venerable Master Hsing Yun’s One-Stroke Calligraphy Exhibition was held at China Cultural Centre in Sydney with attendance of almost a hundred guests.
A total of 14 authentic calligraphy pieces and books written by Venerable Master Hsing Yun were displayed along with some cultural derivatives on “One-Stroke Calligraphy”.
Together with the exhibition, there is a rubbing area, a brush experience area, and a video area, which provides guests with opportunities to experience the one-stroke brushing and to make copies of master’s calligraphy.
Decades of diabetes have caused the Venerable Master’s poor vision. Unable to see his work, he completes his words within one stroke, hence “One-Stroke Calligraphy” was created.
Venerable Master Hsing Yun is the founder of Fo Guang Shan (Buddha’s Light Mountain), one of the largest Buddhist orders with close to 300 branch temples worldwide.
The exhibition was co-organized by China Cultural Centre in Sydney, China National Tourist Office in Sydney and Hsing Yun Education Foundation, and will last until 14th June.
