On 8th June, Venerable Jue Fang, acting general manager of Hsing Yun Education Foundation, was invited to present a “Chan and Tea Ceremony” lecture to enrich ongoing “Venerable Master Hsing Yun’s One-Stroke Calligraphy Exhibition” at China Cultural Centre in Sydney. About 60 people from the local areas visited the Centre for the workshop.
Combined with the explanation of Venerable Master Hsing Yun’s one-stroke calligraphy pieces, Venerable Jue Fang introduced the meaning of “Tea and Chan” and the specific processes of practicing tea meditation in the lecture. She said Chan is a cup of tea, through the cup, we can reach the state of the Chan mind and bring the essence of Tea and Chan as one. With the demonstration of making tea and practising Chan by the 11 tea practitioners, the participants learned the approaches of meditation and ultimately experienced the essence of Chan and Tea.
