Borderless – A Duo Exhibition by Chinese and Australian Famous Artists, co-hosted by AC Art Space, Michelle Perry Fine Arts and China Cultural Centre in Sydney, was successfully opened at China Cultural Centre in Sydney on 28th October.
150 people participated in the opening ceremony, including Mr Xiayong Xiao, the Director of China Cultural Centre and China National Tourist Office in Sydney, Ms Yamei Wang, Consul of the Chinese Consulate General in Sydney, Ms Barbara Ward, Deputy Mayor of Ku-ring-gai Council, Mr Tony Stephens, Executive Director of the Museum of Chinese in Australia and the Former Director of Artbank, Ms Yin Cao, Curator of Chinese Art at Art Gallery of New South Wales, our friends from the local art scene, as well as reporters from Australian and Chinese news Agencies.
The Print Production
Ms Michelle Perry, artist, printmaker, and Director of Marnling Press, published her Limited Edition Silkscreen of Shan Shui with Panda in the ceremony, which is one of the best-known series from Adam Chang.
Mr Xiao noted in his opening speech that the exhibition puts together works with disparate styles, providing the audience with an opportunity to experience the diversity and inclusiveness of contemporary art.
Mr Tony Stephens extended his warm congratulations on the opening of the exhibition. He highlighted the importance of cultural exchanges between Australia and China.
Mr Adam Chang and Mr Jasper Knight are giving their welcome speech.
Chang brought his “Shan Shui (landscape) with Panda” series, which blended western contemporary art techniques with Chinese traditional cultural symbols, while Knight depicted palm trees – a commonly-seen element in Australian cities – on canvas using bright and bold primary colors.
Although the continuous Covid-19 pandemic hinders the normal cultural exchanges between China and Australia, our Centre has been working closely with local artists to present this exhibition, and received positive feedback from the visitors.
Borderless – A Duo Exhibition by Chinese and Australian Famous Artists opens to the public for free until 1st January 2023.
