Sydney Town Hall witnessed the inaugural China Australia Millennial Project (CAMP) Summit, which last from 1st to 5th June 2015, with China Cultural Centre in Sydney sponsoring one of the 13 Think Tanks and assuming a significant role.

A total number of 130 participants, consisting of young leaders aged from 18 – 35 from various industries in both Australia and China, was divided into 13 intercultural Think Tanks as part of the CAMP Summit and presented their innovative solutions to a panel of judges on the 5th of June.

China Cultural Centre in Sydney took part in this initiative by sponsoring the “Culture and Art”Think Tank. It also raised the question to the 10 members of the its sponsored Tank that“what innovative ways we can develop to engage Australians in Chinese culture, to generate greater impact and grow a broader more diverse audience?”

Mentored and guided by Professor Zheng Chengjun, Director of the Centre for Contemporary China Studies, and Hannah Skrzynski, the Director of Creative Asia, the group finalised two proposals, namely the “Compass” and “Cultural Shock Experience”, sharing their insights on the intercultural encounters between China and Australia.

“This is such a good event and platform for both Chinese and Australian young innovators to exchange their thoughts and contribute to the current challenges faced by these two countries.”said the mentors. “The idea of this cross-cultural interaction help the delegates form an international perspective.”

Supported by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade as well as the NSW Government, the goal of this project is to help foster mutual cultural understanding and provide the participants a professional development program designed to further enhance their creative problem solving and innovation skills.
