As the Chinese Spring Festival approaches, China Cultural Centre in Sydney has recently launched the schedule for the 2016 event series: “Happy Chinese New Year”, celebrating the Year of the Monkey. This series contains an abundance of Spring-Festival-themed cultural experiences designed to share and celebrate the culture and auspiciousness of this Chinese traditional festival with people around the world.
The first event of the series, “Hands-on Experience of Chinese New Year”, will open on 9th January at the China Cultural Centre in Sydney. Not only does this signature event include last year’s popular activities, such as paper cutting, riddle guessing, writing spring couplets, picture-taking, and so forth, it will incorporate the performance and display of Chinese folk artwork from distinguished Chinese folk artists, who will also be interacting with visitors during the event.
Attending this year’s “Hands-on Experience of Chinese New Year” are 250 local students from 7 schools in Sydney, allowing the students to experience the Chinese New Year traditions, customs and culture through first-hand experiences.
For those who are interested in upcoming activities the Centre will hold during the lead-up and celebration of the Spring Festival, please see the below schedule for “Happy Chinese New Year 2016”:
