As this year marks the 20th anniversary of Hong Kong’s handover from Britain to China, China Cultural Centre (Sydney) and Network of International Culturalink Entities will join forces to present a specially commissioned event titled “Hong Kong Movie Week”. A series of award-winning Hong Kong Films representing Hong Kong cinema during the post-war decades will be on screen, together with an insightful lecture to be delivered by an established senior Movie Critic Mr. Ho See Wing (Sampson) from Hong Kong that seeks to provide greater understanding into the world of films from a professional perspective.
About the Speaker:
Mr Ho See Wing is a Senior Programme Planner, research scholar, lecturer, writer and movie critic, active in Hong Kong and the United States. His main area of expertise is Hong Kong Films and he is frequently engaged in review articles and feature programme planning of Chinese movies, European, American movies and Asian movies.
Mr. Ho has been actively engaged in promoting Hong Kong Films to overseas audiences. He has held numerous seminars all over the world including a series of talks on “Hong Kong Films in the 50s” at Festival Paris Cinéma, France, “Female Spy Movies of Hong Kong” in Brisbane, Australia, “The Poetic world of Wong Kar-Wai’s Films” at Brisbane International Film Festival and University of Houston. In 2012, Mr. Ho brought over and introduced ten movies from the list of the flagship programme “100 Must-see Hong Kong Movies” of Hong Kong Film Archive to the International Film Festival of Asian Pacific Countries in Vladivostok, Russia.
