“Ode to the Moon” – Free concert to celebrate Mid-Autumn Festival
Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival a.k.a Moon Festival is a special occasion for families and friends coming together and celebrate another year of joyous reunion. Nowadays, it is the most important festival second only to Chinese New Year Festival and is celebrated by Chinese both domestically and internationally.
This year, China Cultural Centers across the world will host a series of free events to gather general public to share this wonderful occasion of the year along with their friends and families. September 30, 2017 in CCC Sydney, dozens of local families showed up at a live music concert held jointly by CCC Sydney and Australia-China Cadenza Music Centre.
The two-hour concert featured traditional Chinese musical elements and famous western music pieces focused on the theme of thanksgiving, unity and memories of home. Acclaimed musicians and singers performed signature pieces that reflect the very moment of this beautiful season, including classics of the east and west such as Moonlight Sonata, When can we have a full moon, Colourful Clouds Chasing the Beautiful Moon, Chinese Butterfly Loves and many more.
The concert concluded with a hearty rendering of ‘Auld Lang Syne,’ which prompted the audience to join for a sing-along. “Through a programme of songs and music, we hope to bring back good old memories to the ones who are far from home, as well as to introduce Chinese culture and traditions in an entertaining way to participants who are not familiar with them. We hope all of our participants today enjoyed a delightful afternoon with their beloved ones.” said the Director of China Cultural Centre in Sydney.
