Melodies of Spring: Concert of Chinese music to mark Lantern Festival

The Lantern Festival is approaching! Join us at 7 pm on Feb 26 (GMT+8) to watch the LIVE concert Melodies of Spring to celebrate the Lantern Festival and experience the charm of traditional Chinese music.

The concert will feature folk music from Chinese ethnic groups such as the Yi, Zhuang and Uyghur people, performed by artists from the China National Opera and Dance Drama Theater.

Traditional instruments featured will include drums and gongs, erhu (two-stringed fiddle), satar (a traditional Uygur instrument that resembles an Indian sitar), bamboo flutes and other folk wind instruments. Please stay tuned!

        中国歌剧舞剧院的知名艺术家们将为您呈现涵盖彝族、壮族、维吾尔族等多个少族民族的经典音乐作品,在音乐中带您走遍中国的大江南北,呈现独具特色、百花齐放的民族艺术风情。 

        中国歌剧舞剧院是中央直属院团中规模最大、艺术门类最多、历史最悠久的国家级艺术剧院,其作品富含中国民族特色,代表着中国舞台艺术的最高水准。剧院艺术门类包括民族歌剧、民族舞剧、民族特色的交响音乐会等。  

春华国韵节目单

一、民族管弦乐《春节序曲》
作曲:李焕之

《春节序曲》是《春节组曲》的第一乐章,它是中国著名作曲家、音乐理论家李焕之基于延安时期的生活体验,在20世纪50年代创作的一部作品。这首乐曲是采用我国民间的秧歌音调、节奏与陕北世歌为素材创作的管弦乐曲。作者以中国传统节日“春节”为题,展现了一幅革命根据地人民在春节时热烈欢腾的场面以及团结友爱、互庆互贺的动人图景。

Orchestral Music: Spring Festival Overture
Composer: LI Huanzhi

Spring Festival Overture was composed by the famous Chinese composer Li Huanzhi. The suite is based on Li’s experience in the 1950s in Yan’an, Shaanxi province. The piece adopts the melody and rhythm of Yangge (a form of Chinese folk dance) and the elements of northern Shaanxi folk songs. With the traditional Spring Festival as its theme, the music reveals the people’s happiness, solidarity, and joint celebrations in the revolutionary base area.

 

二、民族管弦乐《边塞行》
作曲:赵季平、赵麟

策马扬鞭,行走在烽火硝烟已然远去的塞外边关,眼前是野花飘香,芳草连天。听长空雁叫,玉笛声声,看大漠孤烟,长河日圆。优美动听,带有浓郁民族风格的主题音调在曲中多次变化出现,描绘出山河壮丽、生机盎然、和平安宁的崭新边塞景象,表达了边防将士守卫边疆的豪情壮志和无私无畏的奉献精神。

The flames of war have dissipated. The fragrances of blooming flowers and green grass are floating in the air. You hear the honks of wild geese and the melody of the flute; you see the stunning image of a desert sunset. The composition depicts the frontier’s new images and the soldiers’ selfless devotion to protecting the borderland.

 

三、排箫与乐队《山鹰》

享誉世界的秘鲁名歌《山鹰》以其悠远、神秘的旋律和古朴、独特的安第斯山区民族乐器编曲令无数人对南美印第安文化心驰神往。原版据传是基于秘鲁自由战士在起义中被害,死后变成一只神鹰,永远翱翔于安第斯山上。秘鲁人民凭歌寄意,表达了对英雄的怀念以及对自由的不息追求。排箫和竹笛的悠远的音色更能如雄鹰翱翔在蓝天,悠然自在。近日,秘鲁政府将作曲家达尼埃尔·阿洛米亚·罗布莱斯于1913年创作的这首名曲宣布为该国的国家文化遗产。

Peruvian Panpipes and Orchestra: El Cóndor Pasa

The world-renowned Peruvian song “El Cóndor Pasa” has attracted countless people to the indigenous culture in South America. This can be attributed to its ethereal and mysterious melody and the uniqueness of its Andean-style composition. It was said the original song was based on a story of a Peruvian fighter being killed in the uprising and resurrected as a Cóndor, soaring ever after among the Andes mountains.

Through this song, the Peruvian people recall the hero and express their unremitting pursuit of freedom. The melodious timbre of panpipes and bamboo flute rises in the blue sky like a Cóndor, wild and free. Recently, the Peruvian government has declared “El Cóndor Pasa”, composed by Danielle Alomía Robles in 1913, a national cultural heritage.

 

四、民族室内乐《阿细跳月》

“阿细跳月”是彝族阿细人最具代表性的民族民间舞蹈,流行于云南彝族地区。音乐家彭修文根据该舞蹈的音乐,创作了民族管弦乐曲《阿细跳月》。表现了青年男女合着节拍翩翩起舞、互诉衷肠、情绪欢快的场面。张高翔将民族管弦乐《阿细跳月》改编为室内乐带有即兴的表现形式,这个版本更是发挥了每位演奏家的即兴能力,给每一种乐器独奏展示的机会,充分展现出民族乐器的风采。

Ensemble recital: Ashi People’s Bonfire Dance in the Moonlight

The bonfire dance is widely considered the most typical work of Ashi folk arts. The Ashi people are a branch of the Yi ethnic group from Southwest China. During their festivals, they usually dance beside a bonfire in the moonlight to joyous background music. Chinese conductor and composer Peng Xiuwen first turned the folk tune into an orchestral piece in 1956.

 

五、萨塔尔与乐队《雪映花红》

民乐室内乐作品《雪映花红》,乐曲选用《花儿为什么这样红》的主题进行重新编曲创作。这首乐曲将传统民族乐器分别与西域和新疆这两个不同地域的音乐风格完美地结合在一起,形成了极具艺术感染力的作品。

The satar and orchestra: Red Flowers on Icy Mountains

Red Flowers on Icy Mountains is adapted from Why are the Flowers So Red, an interlude in the 1963 movie Visitors On The Icy Mountain. But the original tune actually comes from a famous folk song of the Tajik ethnic group in Northwest China. Like the original folk song, this music for the satar and orchestra extols Mother Nature, friendship and love. The satar was originally a Persian musical instrument and a member of the lute family.

 

六、二胡与舞蹈《葡萄熟了》

《葡萄熟了》是80年代以来根据新疆维吾尔族音乐曲调创作的一首脍炙人口的二胡独奏曲。乐曲是以新疆维吾尔族民间歌舞音乐为基础创作的作品,流畅清新的旋律展现了南疆富饶、美丽的景色,作品风格浓郁独特,节奏明快爽朗,情绪热烈奔放!此舞蹈在音乐中用欢快的维吾尔民族舞蹈元素和轻盈的舞步生动地描绘了维吾尔族小伙子勤劳、朴实、智慧的形象,以及在葡萄收获季节载歌载舞庆丰收的动人场面!

The erhu and Dance: The Grapes Are Ripe

The Grapes Are Ripe is a famous erhu solo composed in Uygur folk music style from the 1980s. The composition shows the rich and beautiful southern Xinjiang scenery with a smooth and refreshing melody based on Uygur folk song and dance. The music has a unique style, lively rhythm and vibrant emotions. With the Uygur dance’s joyful elements, the dance vividly depicts the diligent and intelligent nature of local young men and the moving image of celebrating the grape harvest with singing and dancing.

 

七、吹打乐《长坂坡》

京打领奏:童生垣、邓立夫、陈思翰、冯璐

乐曲以京剧武场“四大件”为核心主体,配以民族管乐器与其他打击乐器。它饶有兴味的描绘了《三国演义》中常胜将军赵子龙,通过“蛟龙出火”、“混身是胆”、“走马斩将”、“美哉子龙”、“乱军救主”、“独踹曹营”等六个情节的表述,塑造了赵子龙横枪跃马、舍生忘死、单骑救主、驰骋疆场的英雄形象以及赤胆忠心大无畏的民族精神。通过京剧打击乐的形式表达一个具体人物,此曲尚属首创。

Ensemble of Chinese Wind and Percussion Instruments: A Battle at Changbanpo

Focusing on the four main percussion instruments in Peking Opera, the composition describes a vivid image of the unbeatable general, Zhao Zilong, in The Romance of the Three Kingdoms. This is the very first time a composition employs Chinese opera wind and percussion instruments to portray a particular figure. The descriptions of the six plots in the composition shape Zhao Zilong’s brave and heroic image and a spirit of utter devotion.

 

八、双二胡与乐队《新赛马》

《新赛马》在二胡的经典曲目《赛马》的基础上,增加大段炫技的乐段。改编后的乐曲整体更加饱满,富有动感与激情。乐曲以其磅礴的气势、热烈的气息、奔放的旋律而深受人们喜爱,在我们面前展现出一幅生动热烈的赛马场面。

The Erhu and orchestra: An Adaptation of the Horse Racing Tune

Describing a traditional Mongolian sport during the Nadam Festival, Horse Racing is an extremely popular tune, composed by Huang Huaihai in 1964, for the erhu, a two-string traditional Chinese instrument. Now it has been tailored for the erhu and orchestra. More dynamic and exciting, the adaptation allows the performers more room to demonstrate their technical virtuosity.

 

九、打击乐与乐队《龙腾虎跃》
作曲:李民雄
打击乐领奏:王佳男、宋恩、陈思翰

此曲以浙东锣鼓《龙头龙尾》的音调变化发展而成,气势磅礴,情绪炽烈,并富于浓郁的民族风格。作者以独特的构思,巧妙地利用不同鼓的相异音色和节奏的多样组合,并加之群鼓表演的多层次立体效果,拓展了鼓乐合奏的新形式。

Percussion ensemble: Flying Dragon, Leaping Tiger

Flying Dragon, Leaping Tiger was originally a popular folk tune circulating for centuries in coastal areas of East China’s Zhejiang province. Composer Li Minxiong arranged it for a percussion ensemble in 1991. Li’s version has been widely recognized as a modern classic of Chinese gong and drum music, a major genre of traditional Chinese percussion.

 

十、民族交响乐《壮族诗情》第四乐章《山雄》 
作曲:刘锡津

广西——这是一片诞生英雄的天地,拥有辽阔延绵、孕育雄魂的山峦。静静的峰林,像列队的战士,守卫着祖国的南疆:雄魂的群山,焕发着意志,鼓舞着生命的呐喊!新时代的壮族儿女正演绎着永不落幕的英雄史诗,如同一轮鲜红的朝阳,映照在八桂大地,背部湾畔……

Folk Symphony: Heroes of the Mountains

South China’s Guangxi province, a land that breeds heroes, has a vast stretch of mountains that guard the southern border like brave soldiers. In this new era, the men and women of the Zhuang ethnic group demonstrate the never-ending epic, praising the greatness of life and nature, and enlightening this land like the rising sun.
