“ONE BELT ONE ROAD” BUSINESS LUNCHEONSPECIAL EVENTS

Jointly hosted by China Cultural Centre in Sydney, Australia-China Business Council and KVB Kunlun, the “One Belt One Road” Business Luncheon will feature keynote speeches from Prof. Wang Yuzhu, Director of the Centre for APEC and East-Asia Cooperation, China Academy of Social Sciences and Mr. Graham Fletcher, First Assistant Secretary of the Free Trade Agreement Division in the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT), who will explore the potential business opportunities to be brought about by the “One Belt One Road” Initiative. 

Graham Fletcher is First Assistant Secretary of the Free Trade Agreement Division in the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT), since February 2014. One of his principal responsibilities is Chief Negotiator for the China-Australia Free Trade Agreement. His previous assignment was Deputy Head of Mission at the Australian Embassy in Washington (2011-13). 

Graham’s earlier career has focused on China. During 2008-10 he headed up North Asia Division in DFAT, managing relations with China, Japan and Korea. He was posted to the Australian Embassy in Beijing during 1986-88, 1997-2000 and 2004-08. Graham has also worked on the South Pacific, with a posting in 1992-94 as Deputy Consul-General in New Caledonia. During 2001-03 he was Assistant Secretary for South Pacific issues and coordinated the intervention in Solomon Islands known as the Regional Assistance Mission to Solomon Islands (RAMSI). Graham was born in Sydney in 1961, and studied history at the University of Sydney. 

Prof. Wang Yuzhu has been associated with the China Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) since 2002. As a research fellow specialised in Asia-Pacific studies and regional strategy of China, Prof. Wang holds the position as the Director of the Centre for APEC and East-Asia Cooperation at CASS. He is also a Professor at the Graduate School of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and used to be visiting scholar at the National University of Singapore and visiting research fellow at the University of Chicago. He has published a number of books and articles, including “One Belt One Road” Initiative and the Reconstruction of Asian Integration Model.
