Curated by Professor Zhao Li and Chen Lin from Beijing’s Central Academy of Fine Art, the exhibition showcased masterpieces from some of China’s rising and talented young artists.
The Chinese word “zao hua”, which is the theme for the exhibition, denotes the natural world, comprising of naturally occurring phenomena, as well as related ideas.
Through the display of these artistic pieces, the exhibition aims to show viewers the changes in interpretation of “zao hua” as it occurs in Chinese art, as well as present an image of culture and thought in today’s Chinese society.
Hobart Lord Mayor Sue Hickey and CEO/Artistic Director of Salamanca Arts Centre, Rosemary Miller, congratulated the opening of the exhibition, both highly praising the sharing and exchange of culture between China and Tasmania.
Mrs. Zhao Li, Director of China Cultural Centre in Sydney, also expressed her wish for establishing deeper relationship with the local government and art institutions within Tasmania.
“As the only China Cultural Centre in Australia, we’d love to have more collaborations with the City of Hobart as well as other local art organisations, presenting modern Chinese culture to the Tasmanian public, and strengthening the cultural exchange between China and Tasmania”, commented by Mrs. Zhao.
